# Introducing the WIAA IA Certificate Program

By [**Grace Lau**](/people/person/grace-lau.md), Co-president, WIAA

**27 April 2026** — The World IA Association is launching a certificate program in information architecture. The program is designed for working professionals who want to build or deepen their IA practice through structured, hands-on learning

### What the program includes

The WIAA Information Architecture (IA) Certificate Program is a growing series of courses designed to build practical, industry-relevant skills in information architecture. Each course runs for four weeks and includes one live session per week, along with assigned readings, discussions, and a hands-on project that can be applied directly to your own work or portfolio.

The first three courses launching in our Fall 2026 pilot are:

* Introduction to Information Architecture — IA fundamentals, including IA's role in product design, its relationship to UX, and the principles that underpin how people find and understand information.
* Content, Structure, and Findability — Content modeling, organization systems, governance, and how content structure affects search and AI discovery.
* AI and Information Architecture — How to design IA for AI systems and discovery, with attention to accessibility and equity.

These three courses form the foundation of the certificate. Additional courses will be added as the program grows. Courses can be taken as a full certificate sequence or individually.

### Who this is for

This program is designed for UX designers, content strategists, product designers, and career changers who want to develop practical IA skills. Courses are taught by information architecture practitioners with 15+ years of experience in the field.

Pricing will be geographically tiered when paid enrollment opens, to make the program accessible to professionals in different economic contexts.

### The Fall 2026 pilot

The pilot runs from August through November 2026, with one course per month. Enrollment is capped at 10 students per course and is free. We're offering the pilot at no cost to learn alongside our first cohort — gathering feedback and refining the program before we move to paid offerings.

Registration opens in June. To be notified, [sign up for the interest list](https://forms.worldiaday.org/certificate-interest).
