# WIAA Open Office Hours

Join the World IA Association for a quarterly one-hour session to hear updates, ask questions, and meet the community.

### About Open Office Hours

Open Office Hours is a relaxed, open conversation. It is not a webinar.

There is no presentation to watch first. Join live, introduce yourself if you want, and participate as much or as little as you like.

Each hour has three parts:

* **We share what's happening.** We give a short update on the Association: World IA Day, the IA Certificate Program, World IA Café, the website, and ways to get involved.
* **We open the floor.** Bring your questions, share what you're working on, or just listen. This is your time with the people behind WIAA and others in the community.
* **We record the update, not the discussion.** We record and post the opening update afterward. The open conversation stays off the record, so everyone can speak freely.

### Next session

#### September 3, 2026 at 8 AM Pacific

The series launches on September 3, 2026.

This is a good place to start if you're new to WIAA. The first session focuses on two topics:

* **The IA Certificate Program.** Thinking about enrolling in the fall pilot? Meet the instructors, hear how the courses work, and ask anything before the Foundations course begins in mid-September.
* **World IA Day 2027.** Curious about hosting or helping organize an event in your city? We will walk through the call for locations and how to get started.

### How it works

**Join from anywhere.** Sessions run on Zoom. Register on the event page and we'll send the link and a reminder. No account or membership required.

**No background required.** You do not need prior IA knowledge or past attendance. Newcomers, students, seasoned practitioners, and past organizers are all welcome.

**Catch up afterward.** We record and post the opening update so you can catch up on the news even if you could not make it live. The open discussion is not recorded.

### Why we do this

The IA community has few regular spaces to connect between major events. World IA Day comes once a year. In-person conferences are expensive and far between.

Open Office Hours offers a simple, recurring way to stay connected to the work, the Association, and each other.

We are a volunteer-run, global association. Staying connected depends on people continuing to show up for one another.
