# Preparing global giveaways

Global giveaways are optional offers from World IA Day sponsors. They may include digital products, subscriptions, books, or other in-kind donations.

The global team manages these opportunities. Local organizers manage any prizes they secure locally.

### How global giveaways work

The global team publishes giveaway information on hidden pages in Drupal and GitBook. These pages are configured as unlisted, `noindex`, and `nofollow`.

Share the direct link only through approved organizer or event channels. Do not add these pages to local navigation or promote them as public event content.

Availability, eligibility, and redemption terms vary by sponsor. Never promise a giveaway before the global team confirms it.

### Use the global giveaway form

Global giveaways usually use a Tally form. Attendees can opt in to specific drawings through that form.

Use the current form link and instructions provided by the global team. Do not collect entries separately unless asked.

Tell attendees that submitting the form does not guarantee a prize. Sponsors or the global team will contact selected recipients when needed.

### Keep global and local prizes separate

Global giveaways are not part of your local prize program. They are coordinated centrally and may be available across multiple locations.

Local prizes are your responsibility. This includes sourcing prizes, setting eligibility, selecting winners, fulfilling prizes, and following applicable local rules.

Make the distinction clear in attendee communications. Avoid implying that local attendees automatically receive global offers.

### Run local prize drawings fairly

If you offer local prizes:

* Publish eligibility, entry deadlines, and how winners are selected.
* Use a fair, documented selection method.
* Collect only the contact information required to notify and fulfill prizes.

Do not use personal data collected for registration or prizes for unrelated purposes. Review [Collecting attendee data](/wiad-organizer-guide/audience-and-the-day-of-experience/collecting-attendee-data.md) before creating a local entry form.
