# Speakers and programming

Your local team curates the event program. Choose content and formats that serve your community while connecting with information architecture and the global theme.

The global team does not need to approve your program. Ask your regional director or the global team for support when useful.

### Build a thoughtful program

Start with the experience you want attendees to have. Then select speakers, activities, and timing that support those goals.

Build in time for breaks, questions, transitions, and connection. Make participation possible for people with different access needs and levels of experience.

### Plan your event format

Choose a format that fits your community, capacity, and budget. Events can be informal gatherings, workshops, design slams, presentations, or conferences.

Read [Choose your event format](/wiad-organizer-guide/event-program/choose-your-event-format.md) and [Types of events](/wiad-organizer-guide/event-program/types-of-events.md) for options and planning details.

### Find and support presenters

Look for perspectives that reflect your community and program goals. Be clear about the topic, format, timing, accessibility needs, and any expense coverage before a presenter commits.

Use [Finding presenters](/wiad-organizer-guide/event-program/finding-presenters.md) to build your speaker outreach plan.
