# Archive Personas

This page preserves findings from a 2018 UCLA Library and Information Science research project. The project explored a taxonomy for WIAD video content and created personas to guide design decisions.

The ten-week project ran from April through June 2018. Thanks to Jade Bisht, Rohan Kumar, Javier Salas, Gaby Chan, Matt Fang, and Jill Tiutan for their contributions.

These personas reflect the project’s original research context. Validate current audience needs before using them for new decisions.

## Personas

The project defined four personas in two categories: prospective users and WIAD affiliate users.

### Prospective users

These personas represent people interested in the archive who do not currently use it. A positive experience may encourage future event participation and local community involvement.

#### The Professional

**Description:** The Professional represents IA practitioners who understand community terminology and know what they need. They may not attend WIAD, but could use the archive before deciding to attend or contribute.

#### Noobert

**Description:** Noobert may not attend WIAD, but is interested in IA community conversations. As a student, they are exploring their interests and career direction. They are eager to learn, despite limited familiarity with professional terminology and current debates.

### WIAD affiliate personas

These personas represent people already involved with the WIAD archive. Their needs differ from prospective users, especially around community participation and content contribution.

#### Mariana

**Description:** Mariana is a local WIAD organizer based in Santiago, Chile. She values a welcoming archive that supports people across locations, backgrounds, and skill levels. She sees the archive as a way to strengthen local and global community conversations.

#### Soyeon

**Description:** Soyeon represents engaged WIAD archive contributors. She sees the archive as a social tool and needs content to be easy to find. She also expects uploading and editing to be simple and efficient.
