Share your IA expertise with global professionals. Join our monthly speaker series connecting practitioners worldwide through presentations and discussions.

World IA Cafe brings together information architecture professionals and enthusiasts from around the globe for monthly learning sessions. We're looking for speakers who can share practical insights, current challenges, and innovative approaches that shape how we design, structure, and understand information.

What is World IA Cafe?

World IA Cafe is a monthly speaker series that serves as a regular touchpoint for the global IA community. Each session features expert presentations followed by interactive Q&A discussions, creating collaborative learning opportunities that keep IA conversations alive beyond annual conferences.

Who should speak?

We welcome speakers from all backgrounds and experience levels:

  • IA practitioners sharing real-world project insights

  • Researchers presenting current findings and methodologies

  • Design professionals exploring IA applications in their work

  • Students and newcomers offering fresh perspectives on established practices

  • Adjacent professionals (content strategists, UX designers, data professionals) applying IA principles

What topics work well?

We're interested in presentations that offer practical value to our diverse audience:

  • Current IA challenges and innovative solutions

  • Case studies from recent projects (with lessons learned)

  • Emerging trends affecting information architecture practice

  • Tools, methods, and frameworks that advance IA work

  • Cross-disciplinary applications of IA principles

  • Research findings with practical implications

Session format

  • Duration: 45-60 minutes total (20-40 minute presentation + ~20 minute Q&A)

  • Format: Virtual presentation via video conference (Zoom)

  • Audience: Global, typically 20-50 attendees

  • Style: Professional but conversational; interactive discussion encouraged

We review proposals on an ongoing basis and typically schedule speakers 2-3 months in advance. Allow a few weeks for a response to your submission.
